Ecosystems
The Mojave Desert has mountain ranges, mesas, sand dunes and rivers. In the central part of the Mojave Desert, there are broad valleys and scattered, isolated mountain blocks, that are mostly lower than 2,000 miles in elevation. There are mountains in the Mojave Desert, such as the San Bernardino Mountains which rise up to over 3,000 miles. The Mojave River is called an "upside down" river, because the sand is on top of the water. There are many lakes in the Mojave Desert, like the Soda Lake and the Silver Lake. The Kelso Dune is located east of the Mojave Desert.
